’This is a great example of how parametric technology can elevate travel insurance from a back-end claims product to a real-time customer experience,’ says director of strategic accounts
DOA Underwriting has launched a new parametric travel product designed to improve customer experiences during flight disruptions.

Fully automated via the Blink Parametric real-time platform, Enhanced Flight Delay provides travellers with complimentary access to VIP airport lounges when flights are delayed by two and a half hours or more.
The service is launching on the MGA’s SunWorld travel insurance product and will be included as standard for customers purchasing prestige and premier plus policies.
Customers travelling on standard and premier policies can also add the service as an optional extra.
Jack Hines, head of personal lines at DOA Underwriting, said: “Enhanced Flight Delay is about giving our customers something genuinely useful when travel doesn’t go to plan.
“Flight delays are frustrating, but this service helps turn that experience into something far more comfortable. By embedding it into our SunWorld Prestige and premier plus policies and offering it as an option elsewhere, we’re giving travellers real value and flexibility.”
How it works
Through the platform, once a flight is registered delays are monitored automatically.

This service removes the need for claim forms, receipts or manual intervention at the airport.
When a registered flight is delayed by two and a half hours or more, travellers receive a VIP airport lounge pass, granting access to over 1,200 lounges worldwide.
Perry McShane, director of strategic accounts at Blink Parametric, added: “We’re delighted to support DOA Underwriting with the launch of Enhanced Flight Delay.
”This is a great example of how parametric technology can elevate travel insurance from a back-end claims product to a real-time customer experience. Lounge access is a benefit travellers immediately understand and appreciate and DOA has done an excellent job embedding it into the SunWorld proposition.”
