’He understands this market from every angle and he knows what a good business looks like,’ says chief executive
JMG Group has appointed Alan Percival as regional managing director for the Midlands and south west.

Based in Birmingham, he will lead the strategy and operations across both regions, focusing on sustainable organic and acquisitive growth.
Percival felt there were opportunities in the areas he will operate, with there being a concentration of independent brokers considering their next move.
He also sees opportunities within the existing JMG Group offices to grow those businesses.
‘Important role’
Percival joins after holding leadership roles at two broker businesses which were later acquired.

He also served as an account executive at Aon and head of strategy for UK corporate at Marsh during his career.
“It’s a very exciting time to join the group,” he said.
“There are good businesses in the Midlands and south west that want to grow and want to protect what makes them successful, but are weighed down by regulatory demands. JMG Group understands that balance.
”Owners want certainty, continuity for their people and clients and they want a partner that will respect what they’ve built. That’s what I see here. The quality of businesses in the group and how they’ve been integrated reflects JMG Group’s mature and proven approach.”
Nick Houghton, JMG Group chief executive, added: “Percival understands this market from every angle and he knows what a good business looks like. We’re not interested in buying for the sake of it.
“We want well run brokers who care about their clients and their people. When the fit is right, we can support their growth without losing what makes them distinctive.
“He brings that mindset and will play an important role in our continued expansion across the Midlands and south west.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
