Insurance Times rounds up the biggest appointments from 29 April to 3 May
Allianz appointing a new general insurance director for LV= and Ecclesiastical announcing a new property underwriting director were among people moves to take place across the industry recently.
Direct Line Group (DLG) also made moves this week, with the firm making three senior appointments as it looks to implement its new strategy.

Caroline Johnson
One of the moves this week saw Caroline Johnson replace Martin Milliner as LV=’s general insurance claims director.
Milliner took up the role in 2013 and stayed in place when Allianz acquired LV=’s general insurance business.
Successor Johnson was most recently the director of technical claims at the insurer, a role she had held for more than two years.

DLG changes
Later in the week it was confirmed that Milliner would be among a range of new appointments at DLG.
The moves will see Craig Thornton take up the role of managing director for home and growth, Milliner become managing director of claims and Hugh Hessing move into the position of chief operating officer.
All three appointees will report directly to chief executive Adam Winslow.

Adam Wright
This week also saw specialist insurer Ecclesiastical snap up Aviva’s Adam Wright as its new property underwriting director for the UK.
Wright replaces Paul Messer, who has moved to a new group role supporting underwriting capability across Ecclesiastical’s insurance businesses.

Barbara Rizzi
Another firm to make a new appointment this week was Arch Insurance International, which promoted Barbara Rizzi from head of third-party claims to chief claims officer.
In her new role, Rizzi will be responsible for leading the claims function and strategy of Arch Insurance International.
Areas she will focus on include the London market, UK regional market, Australia and the EU.

Simon Trott
Meanwhile specialist travel provider Ancile Insurance Group appointed Simon Trott as its new chief executive.
Trott, who took up the role on 2 April 2024, will be responsible for leading the firm’s growth strategy and plans.

Michael Ledgerton
This week also saw claims services provider McLarens appoint Michael Ledgerton as its new executive adjuster.
Ledgerton will be based in Manchester and bring multi-sector experience around complex and major losses to the role.
