’We are investing in a multiyear transformation programme to become a simpler, digital-led, leaner business,’ says Allianz UK spokesperson
Allianz is set to cut 650 roles from its UK general insurance arm by the end of 2025.
The job cuts, subject to consultation, will span Allianz UK’s personal lines, commercial, specialty and central functions, a spokesperson confirmed to Insurance Times.
The announcement was made to employees yesterday morning (18 June 2025) and follows what the insurer described as “shifting preferences towards digital, self-service customer support” and ongoing changes in market dynamics.
The insurer said this was particularly clear in motor, where technology advancements have led to a reduction in the number of accidents.
Allianz UK employs around 6,000 people and is midway through a £400m investment into reshaping its business between 2024 and 2025.
A spokesperson for the insurer said: “We are investing in a multiyear transformation programme to become a simpler, digital-led, leaner business.
”Sadly, we have informed colleagues of the difficult decision to reduce the size of Allianz UK’s general insurance workforce by the end of 2025.
“We appreciate this is disappointing and difficult news and our priority now is to support those who’ve been impacted. We are helping our people through this process, providing a range of support and advice, and consulting with employee representative bodies about these changes.”
Customer behaviour
The insurer has seen an increasing share of customers opting to purchase policies via digital channels and price comparison websites.

Combined with a more stable risk environment in motor, this shift has prompted Allianz to reshape its workforce in line with changing customer behaviour and operational demands.
The announcement comes as many insurers and brokers continue to assess workforce needs in response to digitalisation and post-Consumer Duty cost pressures.
