Insurance Times looks at highlights from Q2 2025 in its review of the year, focusing on appointments, job cuts and people moves
In Q2, Insurance Times readers’ most read story was the appointment of Zurich UK’s youngest ever regional head.

The appointee in question was Georgina Davis, who was promoted to her role as head of regional market for the Midlands, south west and Wales on 27 May at just 28-years-old, having spent the last two years as the insurer’s head of broker proposition and distribution.
In an interview six months after her appointment, Davis told Insurance Times that she hoped the polarising opinions her title as the youngest ever regional head had generated showed ”the younger generation that age is not a barrier”.
Also piquing industry interest was another insurer story, as Allianz announced to employees on 18 June that it would be cutting 650 roles from its UK general insurance arm by the end of 2025.
The job cuts were set to span Allianz UK’s personal lines, commercial, specialty and central functions following what the insurer described as “shifting preferences towards digital, self-service customer support” and ongoing changes in market dynamics.

Rounding out the top three stories of Q2 was yet another people move story. In June 2025, Howden-owned MGA Dual UK made two regional distribution hires as part of its expansion strategy into the Midlands and south west.
This included new appointees Stephen Davis as regional manager for the Midlands and south west, who joined from his position as head of regional market for the Midlands and Wales at Zurich, and Jayne Sprigg who was snapped up from Allianz to take up the new position at Dual UK as its business development manager in the Midlands.
In the story, Rob Corner, chief distribution officer at Dual UK, explained that the focus in the early part of 2025 was building out the MGA’s north west presence and that he was “very pleased with the response from brokers”.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
