Clear Group’s top boss hopes the new hires will help medium sized regional brokers achieve growth ambitions amid high levels of consolidation

Independent broker network Brokerbility has appointed Luker Rowe managing director John Dunn to the position of managing director as it carries out a c-suite reshuffle.

Dunn will be supported by outgoing managing director Ian Stutz – who has been promoted to the role of executive chairman after spending 14 years building and shaping the network.

Operations director Julie Rayson-Flynn will also leave her position to pursue new professional opportunities, having played a key role at Brokerbility over the last 15 years.

BHIB Insurance Brokers schemes director Michelle South, meanwhile, will replace Rayson-Flynn as director of operations, where she will be responsible for growing the network’s member proposition.

Brokerbility member and Clear Group chief executive Mike Edgeley thanked Rayson-Flynn for “all that she has done for us and for Brokerbility members”, while adding that she has been a “huge part” of the network during her service.

He added: “Brokerbility has an exciting future under the strong leadership of John, Ian and Michelle.

“Their addition gives Brokerbility the firepower to enhance its proposition for existing members and in turn attract new members.

“There’s been a significant amount of consolidation in the market – particularly in medium sized regional brokers – and we see Brokerbility as an essential component in supporting the next wave of smaller independent brokers to achieve their growth ambitions to fill that gap.

“Ultimately, it’s good for the industry and clients as it ensures there’s choice, a natural cycle of growth and healthy competition.”

Appointee history

Dunn currently serves as managing director of network member Luker Rowe. Prior to this role, the appointee held several senior positions years over five years at Allianz Insurance.

At Allianz, Dunn served as underwriting manager for strategic initiatives, before moving on to the role of head of London market property owners and later leading the insurer’s Luton branch.

He said: “I’m delighted to be leading Brokerbility on the next phase of its growth journey. We already have an attractive proposition which offers real value to members and will be seeking to enhance this over the coming months.

“In my time at Luker Rowe, I’ve really seen the value in being part of a community of brokers that faces the market with a strength that represents more than the sum of their individual parts.

“It’s important that Brokerbility evolves as a network by adapting and continually improving its offering to help members grow.”

Prior to joining the network four years ago, South served as development director at Willis UK and held several senior roles during her 10 years at Aviva – most recently as its regional operations manager in the midlands.
