’Ecclesiastical has achieved an improved result in the first half of 2025, delivering sustainable, profitable growth despite the challenging economic environment,’ says group chief executive
Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical has posted a gross written premium (GWP) result of £305.5m in its financial results for the half year ended 30 June 2025.
This result represented a 1.5% year-on-year increase from H1 2024, when GWP stood at £301.1m. Growth in the UK was driven by new business wins and retention, with total figures partially offset by declines in both Canadian and Australian markets.
The insurer’s underwriting profit for its general insurance business also reached £20.2m, falling slightly year-on-year from £20.4m.
Profit before tax reached £54.5m for the period, with Ecclesiastical’s charitable mission seeing it donate an additional £8m to owner the Benefact Trust for the H1 2025 period.
Alongside its financial results, Ecclesiastical announced that its UK business had achieved its target of reaching 50:50 gender balance in its leadership team.
