1. What was your insurance industry highlight of 2025?

It had to be the Biba Conference 2025 back in May. There was a different energy and excitement for SSP Broker after we put in place some big changes to our core operating infrastructure and brought on a range of new insurer schemes to help brokers write more business than ever before.

This meant that eight broker clients that had previously planned to leave us decided to stay.

The Biba Conference helped us set out our stall and generate greater confidence and trust in our business from both insurers and brokers.

2. What is your Christmas message for your insurance colleagues?

To the team at SSP Broker, thank you for your hard work and commitment this year. You all play a vital role in our business’ transformation.

This year, we have pushed forward with real momentum by enhancing our technology, strengthening broker partnerships and laying the foundations for a more agile and innovative future.

None of that happens without the dedication of our workforce’s daily efforts.

As we head into the festive break, I hope SSP Broker employees take time to rest, recharge and spend time with those who matter most.

I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and excited for what is coming next.

To the industry in general – season’s greetings one and all!

As we face an ever-changing insurance landscape, we wish you a resilient and successful year ahead as we work together to protect consumers and businesses from losses.

Stay safe, think about people on their own at this time of year and let’s go from good to great in 2026.

3. What do you hope to find under the industry’s Christmas tree for 2026?

I would love to find a package of tangible steps towards rebuilding and strengthening the market’s reputation.

Public trust and perception matter and the more progress we can make here, the more we help attract the next generation of talent.

Our industry offers fantastic career opportunities – with innovation, data and real customer impact part of the package – but we need to communicate that more clearly and consistently.

If we can show young people that insurance is modern, purpose driven and full of potential, we will secure the long-term capability and creativity the sector needs.

That, for me, would be the most valuable gift we could unwrap in the year ahead.

[ADVENT-REVEAL-END]

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
