Ant Middle, chief executive at Ageas, speaks on his firm’s entry to the Personal Lines Insurer of the Year category

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Because personal lines is all we do, we do it exceptionally well.

Ant Middle, chief executive at Ageas

Our disciplined approach to pricing and underwriting avoids shocks for brokers and customers, while our technical insurance capabilities and strong digital, tech and data enablers have delivered continued momentum throughout 2025.

Brokers are central to our strategy and, this year, we’ve elevated our presence, strengthened partnerships and continued to be recognised as a trusted, customer-focused insurer.

Combined with our 20-year Saga partnership and acquisition of Esure, we’ve achieved what we set out to do – become a top three podium insurer in personal lines and we’re just getting started.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

With invaluable support from regional and national brokers, we’ve grown the number of people we insure significantly.

Our customer engagement scores rank in the top quartile across all industries and we became the largest UK personal lines insurer to achieve the Institute of Customer Service’s Service Mark with Distinction – reflecting our people’s commitment to service brilliance.

That commitment earned us Top Employer status by the Top Employers’ Institute for the fourth consecutive year and boosted our market-leading broker sentiment.

We combine scale, service excellence and broker partnership to deliver what matters most – trusted, customer-focused insurance, even through significant organisational change.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

We owe our success to our people, and how they connect with our customers, brokers and partners every day.

Their commitment to delivering brilliant service, wherever they are in the business, is what sets us apart and this award would give them the recognition they truly deserve.

For me, it’s both professional and personal. Winning would reaffirm our achievements in the industry and celebrate our dedication to the UK personal lines market.

It’s not just a trophy, it’s a statement that our people, our partnerships and our purpose continue to make a real difference.
