‘As we continue to grow and evolve at pace, the importance of strong underwriting and operational leadership is pivotal to our success,’ says global chief executive

Specialty (re)insurance MGA Rokstone has promoted three of its staff to key senior leadership positions.

Nadine Kearney, the firm’s current chief underwriting officer for specialty, will join the Rokstone board of directors in the newly created role of global chief underwriting and risk officer, subject to regulatory approval.

The MGA said that Kearney will be tasked with “shaping Rokstone’s global underwriting and risk strategy and ensuring consistently high-quality underwriting outcomes within a disciplined, well-governed operating framework”.

Former portfolio manager Robin Ungless will fill Kearney’s role as the new chief underwriting officer for specialty. A 35-year industry veteran, Ungless will be responsible for “ensuring underwriting discipline, promoting best practice, fostering a high-performance culture and championing operational excellence”.

Meanwhile, former head of underwriting management Martin Thomas has been promoted to the role of global chief operating officer. Thomas’ role will centre around the firm’s proprietary underwriting platform, ATOMX.

Evolving at pace

Ian Anson, global chief executive at Rokstone, said: “I’m delighted to announce these well-deserved promotions across three critical roles which together strengthen our governance and control environment whilst preserving our agility and entrepreneurial culture.

“As we continue to grow and evolve at pace, the importance of strong underwriting and operational leadership is pivotal to our success. Kearney, Ungless and Thomas have exceptional technical, operational and leadership skills, all of which will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and diversify our underwriting capabilities.

“Together they will set and execute an underwriting strategy that will redefine global specialty underwriting.”
