’Investment in our business came to an abrupt end and we were unable to find a suitable new investor in time,’ says broker
The Green Insurer has announced that it is no longer offering policies to new and renewing customers.
The motor broker said on its website that investment in the business “came to an abrupt end” and it was “unable to find a suitable new investor in time”.
All existing customers have been transferred to Cornmarket Insurance Services, the firm added.
Its statement said: ”Sadly, The Green Insurer is no longer offering policies to new and renewing customers. This was because investment in our business came to an abrupt end and we were unable to find a suitable new investor in time.
“All existing customers have been transferred to a Cornmarket Insurance Services. They are a well-respected insurance broker and have very high standard of customer service.”
Launch in 2023
The Green Insurer was launched in December 2023, with it encouraging insureds to reduce carbon emissions and drive in an environmentally-friendly way.

It also said that it aimed to become the “most competitive [option] for drivers doing low annual mileage”.
At the time of launch, chief executive Paul Baxter said: “We are giving customers the option to easily buy genuinely green car insurance, which is the first in the UK to offset all carbon emissions, while also helping drivers to cut the costs of driving and insurance.”
In the announcement on its website, the broker said that it was ”still committed to the idea of offering a sustainable alternative to standard car, van and learner driver insurance”.
“[We] are very sorry that this is no longer possible for us,” it added.
“We do hope that other sustainable offerings will be available in the future.”
