The ‘significant’ expansion of the firms’ partnership ‘underlines the importance of working together to drive cost savings and reduce emissions’, says chief executive

Salvage and recycling company Synetiq has signed a green parts contract with personal lines insurer Esure to expand the firms’ existing partnership, which began in 2019.

Green parts, also described as recycled car parts, are used instead of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts to repair non-safety items in vehicles – such as doors, engines and headlamps.

Procuring environmentally sustainable parts for its repairer network will allow Esure to continue work on the decarbonisation of its supply chain, as well as provide the opportunity to reduce the CO2 impact of collision repair.

Green parts can also reduce supply chain delays, which may improve the time it takes for customers’ vehicles to be fixed.

Synetiq chief executive Tom Rumboll described the partnership as a “significant agreement” that ”underlines the importance of working together to drive cost savings and reduce emissions”.

Maximising potential

In 2021, Esure’s repairer partners purchased over 3,300 green parts from Synetiq. The new agreement will look to build on this throughout 2022 and beyond.

Rumboll continued: “Cutting the motor insurance industry’s carbon footprint is a priority.

“As part of a successful integrated and circular model, Synetiq and Esure will work side by side to maximise the environmental and financial potential of every vehicle.”

Synetiq now handles over 60,000 salvage and end of life vehicles each year, recycling an average of 96.3% of each end of life vehicle it processes.
