For the 15th day of advent, Verlingue executive chairman Neil Campling talks people moves at Biba and building the insurance industry’s talent pool

Every day for the festive period continuing until Christmas Eve, Insurance Times speaks to a selection of industry personalities about what they’d like to find under the tree for 2024.

What was your insurance industry highlight of 2023?

It would have to be the retirement of Steve White as Biba chief executive, who put in a great shift for our broking profession. Graeme Trudgill is a great successor who works tirelessly and will no doubt continue with the good work on our behalf.

Neil Campling, executive chairman, Verlingue

What is your Christmas message for your insurance colleagues?

Invest in new and develop existing talent. We don’t have enough quality people to fill all of the available roles in our profession and we all need to do more to build the talent pool up.

We at Verlingue have launched our own academy this year to invest in new and existing talented people. It’s a small step for the profession in the scheme of things, but if we all play our part things will get better for us all in the long run.

What do you hope to find under the industry’s Christmas tree for 2024?

A dozen or so fully trained and fully qualified client advisors would be lovely!
