‘We will continue to strengthen the proposition, enhance the support available to our partners and create opportunities for sustainable growth,’ says managing director

Brokerbility has appointed Michelle South as managing director for appointed representative (AR) network Gauntlet, with the move forming part of a wider leadership restructure designed to support the network’s future growth plans.

South, who currently serves as Brokerbility’s market management director, will take up the role on 1 September 2026, succeeding founder Roger Gaunt in the day-to-day leadership of the business.

The appointment comes as Gauntlet looks to expand its AR services and build on its broker development model, which supports insurance professionals launching and growing independent brokers.

South brings more than 20 years of insurance industry experience spanning broker distribution, underwriting, operations and market management. Before joining Brokerbility, she held a number of senior positions within Aviva’s broker division and also spent four years at Willis, where she worked with broker networks – including Gauntlet.

Brokerbility said her experience across both insurer and broker markets would help guide the business through its next stage of development.

South described the appointment as an opportunity to build on Gauntlet’s reputation for supporting independent brokers.

She said: “Together, we will continue to strengthen the proposition, enhance the support available to our partners and create opportunities for sustainable growth across the network.”

‘Opportunities ahead’

As part of the changes, Gaunt will move into the newly focused role of executive director, where he will concentrate on strategic growth, network expansion and strengthening market relationships.

Brokerbility managing director John Dunn said the revised structure would allow both leaders to focus on driving the network forward.

“Gauntlet has built an outstanding reputation and a thriving community, and I am incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead,” he said.

Dunn added that South’s appointment created a strong leadership team capable of delivering the next phase of growth while allowing Gaunt to continue shaping the network’s long-term strategy.

The move comes as appointed representative models continue to attract interest from brokers seeking greater independence while retaining access to regulatory support, infrastructure and insurer relationships.
