The insurer has appointed a new chief risk and data officer and made a series of promotions
Travelers Europe has announced a series of senior appointments to strengthen its risk, analytics and actuarial capabilities.

Among the new hires is Jim Liston, who will serve as chief risk and data officer role. In his new role, he will lead risk, reinsurance, business intelligence, and catastrophe and capital modelling.
Liston previously served in a dual capacity as chief actuary for Europe and chief executive at Travelers Insurance Designated Activity Company (TIDAC). TIDAC was established in Dublin after Brexit, allowing the business to continue serving European customers.
The insurer said Liston’s appointment demonstrated “commitment to leveraging advanced analytics to bolster its risk management and decision-making capabilities”.
Other moves
Following Liston’s promotion, Jim Duncan has joined the business as the new chief executive at TIDAC.

Duncan brings over 30 years of experience in leading insurance operations in Ireland. Travelers noted that he would use his local market knowledge and connections to support the insurer’s growth ambitions.
Finally, Ewa Machlarz has been named chief actuary for Europe.
She moved into the position after serving as chief actuary for the insurer’s Lloyd’s syndicate and head of pricing for Europe. Travelers said her actuarial work had shaped key business decisions and enhanced its pricing tools and capabilities.
All appointments remained subject to regulatory approval.
In 2025, Travelers Europe made notable leadership appointments. In February, the company named Mike Lawton as chief operating officer. Later in the year, Travelers Europe appointed Andy Brown as chief underwriting officer for business insurance, following the retirement of Heather Batchelor after a 30-year tenure.
