’He and his team will collaborate closely with each of our trading divisions, providing full operational and technical support,’ says chief operating officer
Pen Underwriting has appointed Jamie Lawson as its new head of digital eTrade.
In his new role, Lawson will manage and co-ordinate digital growth initiatives across the MGA.
Lawson’s new role will take effect on 1 July 2025 and he will report to Hannah Fry, chief operating officer at Pen.
Fry said: “Having recently set out a bold new growth ambition of becoming a £1.75bn gross written premium (GWP) underwriting and distribution business by 2030, the way in which Pen transacts with broking partners is more crucial than ever.
”With a new Pen-wide remit, Lawson and his team will collaborate closely with each of our trading divisions, provide full operational and technical support and leverage their knowledge, experience and expertise to supercharge our digital platforms and eTrading capabilities.”
Strategic growth
With Pen since its beginning in 2015, the appointee has spent the past decade expanding and enhancing eTrading capabilities within the SME and personal lines division.

Lawson said that in his new role, his focus will be on “understanding the nuances of every class and specialism within our portfolio to identify areas where eTrade can and should deliver the maximum return for all parties”.
He added: “Maximising the ease, speed and efficiency of our digital trading environment across our increasingly diverse and international product range will ensure brokers continue to win and retain business, while simultaneously supporting our own strategic growth.
”There are huge benefits to be had from taking a uniform approach to digital eTrade, centralising functions, leveraging technology and developing Pen-wide propositions for the future.”
