Insurer Aviva is to shift to permanent homeworking for its staff

Aviva is to allow its workforce to work from home on a permanent basis, it announced.

This coincides with the closing of offices around the country, it said.

Workers will be required to go to the office just one day a week on a rotating basis.

“We are combining office space in some locations and reducing the space in others,” the company was quoted by the BBC as saying.

“Our intention is to invest in our sites to provide a more vibrant, inspiring and flexible workspace for our people,” it added.

Earlier this week Aviva announced it was closing two offices in Norwich. Roles based there will be consolidated into the company’s main Norwich office, it added.

Aviva has said it plans to change the way its office space is used.
