Gallagher has appointed Clare Francis as an independent non-executive director.

As part of her role, Francis will become the chair of the remuneration committee and a member of the nominations, audit and risk committees.

She has over 35 years of experience in the financial sector and takes up the role after serving as chief executive and regional head of Europe at Standard Chartered UK.

Francis also currently holds a number of non-executive roles, including at Bank of America, Baille Gifford and CMC.

“Her extensive experience in leading large financial institutions through periods of significant growth, both in the UK and internationally, will bring great insight as we continue to build on our success over recent years.”

’Strong position’

Prior to the appointment, Francis also had experience working at Lloyds Bank for over 10 years, including as head of corporate and institutional banking, global head of international and global head for corporates.

She also spent 17 years at HSBC, where she held senior roles in IT transformation, markets and risk.
