’Their expertise will be core to the new offerings we are developing and to achieving new heights of excellence in service and innovation for our clients,’ says group boss
Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) has appointed Thibaud Hervy as its new chief executive and Simon Button as its new chief underwriting officer.
Both promotions were confirmed yesterday (1 May 2025), with both appointments taking place with immediate effect.
The leadership reshuffle follows the transition of Barry Cook, who has served as chief executive at TMHCCI for over 20 years, to deputy chief executive of the wider Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC) group.
Susan Rivera, TMHCC’s chief executive, said: ”Cook’s impact on our international business cannot be overstated.
“He has been instrumental in building a business which continues to set new standards and achieve exceptional results.”
Cook added: “I am proud to pass the baton of leadership of TMHCCI to Hervy and Button. I have had the pleasure of working with them for decades and their vision and expertise continue to impress.”
Experience
Hervy steps into the job after more than a decade of executive leadership at TMHCCI, most recently as chief underwriting officer – specialty lines. He joined the business in 1999 as an underwriter in financial lines, later playing a role in developing the firm’s global underwriting strategy and leading HCC Global as managing director.

Meanwhile, Button, who joined TMHCCI in 2000, previously served as chief underwriting officer for London market. His new remit will see him take on responsibility for shaping underwriting strategy across TMHCCI’s full international portfolio.
Rivera said: ”Their expertise will be core to the new offerings we are developing and to achieving new heights of excellence in service and innovation for our clients.”
