Phuong Ly, managing director at Allianz Commercial, talks about the company’s submission for the Challenger of the Year category

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for this category?

Our people have worked brilliantly hard to support customers and broker partners.

With a strategic focus on growth, innovation and broker collaboration, we have achieved a remarkable 9.7% revenue growth from 2023 to 2024, written substantially more regional business, expanded our self-serve capabilities and broadened and strengthened our local servicing through new broker hubs – the list goes on and we are proud of all we have achieved.

By leveraging global expertise and local knowledge, we think we are a strong contender for the Commercial Lines Insurer of the Year award.

2. What makes your entry stand out, and why should you win the award?

Our integrated model across SME, mid-market, large-corporate, specialty segments and engineering inspection unlocks a varied suite of 88 products and services.

We have a robust distribution network with over 2,000 employees in 15 key locations, plus new broker hubs, meaning that we have local presence and deep market understanding.

As a chartered insurer we commit to technical excellence and providing an exceptional claims service every day. That is why we are the only commercial insurer to have achieved the Gracechurch Service Quality Marques for both underwriting and claims in 2024 and 2025.

In our most recent global NPS survey of 25,000 clients and brokers, Allianz Commercial in the UK retained its loyalty leader status across both large-corp and mid-market segments.

Our purpose is to make insurance as easy as possible for our brokers and customers and through constant improvement and investment we believe we are doing just that.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would mean a lot to us, particularly in December, which is a great time to celebrate the closing of a strong year.

We have made significant progress this year, we have invested in our digital journey and will continue to leverage technology to achieve great outcomes, but we will always be committed to partnership and relationship.

We pursue excellence, nurture relationships and deliver professionalism with pace and passion. Our people are dedicated and committed, and winning would validate their work across the year as well as reinforcing our reputation as a market leader.
