John Hinton, managing director at Sedgwick Legal Services, talks about the company’s submission for the Claims Partner of the Year category

1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Claims Partner of the Year category?

John Hinton

John Hinton, managing director at Sedgwick Legal Services

Working in true partnership with clients, we have created a genuinely innovative recovery service that breaks down traditional silos in insurance claims recoveries to deliver faster resolutions, lower costs and improved outcomes.

We have also developed targeted solutions that meet emerging market needs – a multidisciplinary cyber response that reduces insurers’ claims costs by 75% and a complementary ULR solution for broker motor schemes, which typically shortens claim life cycles by over 400 days.

The overwhelming support we’ve gained from clients over the last year has resulted in a 220% increase in new recovery instructions which encouraged us to enter this category.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

We have fundamentally restructured the recovery process, from first notification of loss to trial and the results for our client partners are impressive.

For insurers, we reduce legal costs by 90% and accelerate recoveries. For brokers, we provide an added-value service that enhances their reputation.

For our customers, we deliver a streamlined experience with a single point of contact and our expert-led cyber response also puts us ahead of the curve in meeting emerging market needs.

Our overall performance is consistently recognised as outstanding by our client partners – making Sedgwick Legal Services a very worthy winner of this award.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would recognise the success of Sedgwick’s investment in a partnership that actually works the way partnerships should. No handoffs, no delays – just a seamless service that delivers improved outcomes for clients and their customers.

It would also celebrate the dedication and hard work of our talented and focused legal team, which has grown from nine to 40 colleagues over the past two years and is currently delivering on seven different product lines.

Also, the exceptional ongoing support of our clients, who saw the potential in doing things differently.

In short, it really would mean everything.
