Insurance Times rounds up the top five stories making headlines across the market from 6 October to 10 October 2025
Kicking off the week, Arch Insurance announced the appointment of Miriam Reid as its new head of business solutions. Reid, who previously held senior positions at Beazley and AIG, will lead strategic operations and transformation projects aimed at enhancing Arch’s scalability and performance.
The firm said the move would help it “capitalise on the rapidly evolving digital, AI and technology landscape” shaping the market.

Meanwhile, RSA and NIG officially completed their long-awaited rebrand to Intact Insurance across the UK, Ireland and Europe. The change unites the businesses under one global identity following Intact’s 2021 acquisition of RSA and reflects the group’s ambition to double in size by 2030.
Chief executive Ken Norgrove described the move as “a powerful statement” of shared purpose and growth.

The insurer also confirmed the closure of its Sunderland office, with more than 100 jobs to be lost by the end of 2025. The decision follows Intact Insurance’s exit from personal lines, announced in 2023.
Intact said it would offer full support to affected employees, including outplacement services and local redeployment initiatives.

Elsewhere, excitement built across the market as Insurance Times unveiled the final shortlist for the 2025 Insurance Times Awards.
This year’s finalists span categories such as General Insurer of the Year, Excellence in eTrading and Innovation of the Year, with the winners to be announced at London’s Grosvenor House on 3 December 2025.

Closing out the week, US consolidator Bishop Street Underwriters, backed by RedBird Capital Partners, expanded its UK footprint through the acquisition of Avid Insurance.
The deal marks Bishop Street’s second UK acquisition this year and strengthens its position across specialist lines including construction, social housing and motorsport.
