‘For decades, independents have fuelled the strength of our industry without always having equal representation in London itself,’ says president and chief executive
Assurex Global has launched AG London, a new London market broker created to provide independent firms with permanent access to the capital’s wholesale market.
The launch, announced this week (10 September 2025), followed years of consolidation that left the London market dominated by publicly traded and private equity-backed brokers.
According to Assurex Global, this left independents without a “true seat at the table”.
Dean Hildebrandt, president and chief executive at Assurex Global, said: “For decades, independents have fuelled the strength of our industry without always having equal representation in London itself.
”AG London changes that. With a direct model, we deliver better margins, greater efficiency and a stronger voice in the London market. This is the permanent platform independents deserve.”
The broker is backed by more than £34bn ($46bn) in premium through Assurex Global’s global network of independent agencies. It will initially place business across 10 specialty classes.
Davies launched Assurex Global London (AG) on 5 September. The specialist property and casualty wholesale broker provides direct access to the London insurance markets for independent brokers.
Vows to never sell out
AG London’s model is propped by what the business described as “evergreen independence” – its charter ensures it cannot be sold or consolidated into a larger group. It also pledged not to compete in the retail market, positioning itself as a wholesale partner to independents.

Hildebrandt added: “AG London was built for all independents and it’s here to stay.”
The new entity is led by a team with long-standing London market experience across multiple lines of business. Its proposition includes a direct model aimed at helping brokers’ margins and operational efficiency.
Assurex Global said AG London would combine technology-driven decision-making with localised broker relationships, ensuring independents retain influence in a market that has increasingly become dominated by larger players.
