‘Joining an organisation that places digital and data as key pillars of its strategy was an extremely attractive proposition,’ says new hire
London market carrier Aegis London has appointed Neil Bayles as its new chief information officer.

The newly created role will see Bayles take responsibility for developing and executing the firm’s IT strategy in line with wider corporate objectives, with a focus on deploying technology to enhance service quality and support market competitiveness.
Bayles has previously worked for QBE, Accenture and Brit Insurance, with his most recent position being a solution delivery director for People’s Partnership.
Bayles said Aegis London already had “a strong reputation across the London market as a high-performing, innovative syndicate that has invested significantly in digital and data capabilities to better serve its clients and the wider market”.
He added that he looked forward to building on existing work and developing “a market-leading IT strategy that supports and complements Aegis London’s broader business ambitions”.
‘Wealth of experience’

Harvey said digitalisation, data and artificial intelligence were key strategic priorities for the insurer as it aims to improve operations, broker service and trading capabilities.
“With the wealth of experience he brings in driving transformative technology projects across the London market and wider financial services sector, Bayles will play a pivotal role in ensuring our IT strategy remains closely aligned to, and supportive of, Aegis London’s long-term success,” she said.
Chief executive Alex Powell added that technology played a critical role in delivering the syndicate’s strategy and performance, noting that the appointment reflected its commitment to continued innovation in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
