Insurance Times rounds up the top five stories making headlines across the market from 15 December to 19 December 2025
Among the most read stories this week was Aon launching legal action against Howden US Services, alleging a coordinated raid involving former senior staff and the theft of confidential information.

Aon alleged in court filings that a group of long-serving employees resigned simultaneously to join Howden, following what it described as breaches of contractual and fiduciary duties and the attempted removal of proprietary data.
Meanwhile, Ageas UK confirmed that Peter Martin-Simon, who was appointed chief executive at Esure following the completion of its acquisition, has decided to leave the business in April next year.
The insurer also announced that its chief people officer Caroline Smith would step down at the end of March, alongside a series of leadership changes designed to support the next phase of integration.
Regulatory enforcement was also firmly in the spotlight this week, after the Central Bank of Ireland imposed a 13-year industry ban on former RSA Insurance Ireland chief executive Philip Smith.
The regulator said Smith admitted participating in a breach of financial services law linked to the under-reserving of large loss claims, which it said created a serious risk to policyholders and market confidence.
In the broking sector, Tower Insurance Brokers secured multimillion pound funding to support its next stage of growth, after reaching nearly £40m gross written premium without external investment.
The Lytham-based broker said the backing would allow it to pursue acquisitions and invest in senior talent as it looks to expand its specialist footprint.
Rounding off the week, Arch Insurance UK Regional Division promoted four branch underwriting managers into newly created regional underwriting manager roles.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
