The insurer said the closure of the site in Doxford business park followed its decision in December 2023 to exit personal lines.

Then, Arch Insurance appointed Miriam Reid as its new head of business solutions, effective immediately.

Reid joins from Beazley, where she spent three years as head of business management and chief of staff for the global cyber risk team. Prior to that, she held multiple leadership positions during a 20-year career at AIG, including executive manager within the insurer’s EMEA division.

Following this, Acres Insurance Brokers launched a new private client and high net worth division as part of its strategy to double in size within the next five years.

The new arm will be led by Nick Corbin, who brings more than 12 years’ experience in the private client sector and will operate nationally from his base in Worthing, West Sussex.

After that, Arch Insurance UK announced the appointment of Martin Cleary as Leeds branch manager, reporting to Janine Starkie, north and Scotland regional manager.

Cleary joins from Bravo Network, where he was head of business development, and brings over three decades of experience in the UK insurance market.

Rounding off the week, Specialist Risk Group (SRG) unveiled a new international team that will support overseas brokers and clients seeking access to the UK market.

Operating within SRG’s international division, the team will coordinate placements for a range of sectors and risk profiles, aligning local UK compliance and service needs with parent-company programme requirements.
